What is a mindset? According to the dictionary, a mindset is an established set of attitudes held by someone.

A healthy mindset is the result of finding ways to grow from your thoughts instead of letting them control your life.

Feeling overwhelmed, stressed out and exhausted is the result of an unhealthy mindset.

So how can you improve your mindset and shift it towards a healthier direction? Here are 10 signs you already have a healthy mindset or how to get one.

1. Trust yourself

You know you have all it needs to master your life. There might be better and worse times, but you believe in yourself and your abilities. You know, that in the end, everything will be okay. If things don‘t work out the way you want them to, you stay calm and reflect. You know you will always find a way.

2. Taking responsibility for yourself

You feel responsible for yourself and know that you are the only person who is able to change your life. Instead of telling people „I have to work — even though I hate my job so much.“ you start looking for alternatives and apply for new jobs. No one other than you is responsible for what you think, do, feel or say. As a consequence, you have the power to overcome bad habits and create the life you want.

3. Be grateful

On a daily basis, you appreciate the things in your life. Maybe you even have a journal where you write down everything you feel grateful for. Instead of looking at the things that are missing, you focus on what you already have. 
A healthy body, good friends, nice neighbors, your talents, your character traits, your pet,… Developing gratitude is a big part of your life.

4. Being pleased for others

Furthermore, you don‘t only feel grateful for what you have already but feel happy for others too. If they achieve something big, you don‘t envy them. You rather love to see them happy, celebrate with them and support them. As you know you are in this together, you see yourself and others as one big family.

5. Don‘t compare to others

You don‘t compare yourself to others. For you, comparing to others is a waste of time. Since you know that we are all one big family, you also know that everybody goes their own way. Everyone has strengths, weaknesses, goals and their own history. As a consequence, comparing doesn‘t make sense to you. You rather focus on yourself.

6. Giving makes you happy

Healthy minded people love to give back. Sharing their money, stories, freetime, clothes, experiences or just helping someone makes them extremely happy. Since you know that sharing is caring, you help whenever you can to make others feel good.

7. Welcome failure

For you, failure is just one step on the road to success. You know you will make mistakes. And that‘s totally fine with you!
Instead of dwelling in self-doubt, you learn from your mistakes. Mistakes are a welcome guide to improve and rise above your current limits.

8. You know your „why“

You don‘t like to follow the rules without knowing why. Everything you do, you do it for a reason. Going out with your friends makes you happy and studying for your exam will get you a better grade. Instead of following a diet, because everyone does so, you choose what works best for you and makes you feel good.

9. Think in the present

You know how to be present. Slowing down and enjoying each moment is important to you. Maybe you even meditate on a regular basis. Besides sitting down to meditate, you enjoy going for a walk and allowing your thoughts to come and go. Worrying about the past or the future is nothing you are looking for.

10. Healthy surrounding

Another sign of a healthy mindset are positive people around you. Why? Because you are the sum of the five people you surround yourself with the most. The people around you have a huge impact on you and your mindset. Consequently, the people close to you and their mindset reflect your mindset.
